Media is a form of medium which describes any channel of communication. In other words, it is the way of providing information to the public. This can be anything, from printed paper to digital data, and it includes information in a wide variety of forms, including art, journalism, and voice memo. Social networking is the use of technology (websites and applications) to interact or communicate with other people online.
I am currently using 5 social networking sites which are Instagram, Whatsapp, YouTube, TikTok and Handshake. With Instagram, It offers quick visuals for sharing information. I use instagram mainly for entertainment by looking at other user's post, stories and news. I also like to upload photos or videos and share it to my followers. The main form of online communication for me is Whatsapp. It is an alternative to SMS where I can text my friends and family safely. Not only text message, I use Whatsapp to make video call, voice call, location sharing, document sharing and voice message. YouTube is a video sharing service where I watch, like, share, comment and upload my own videos. Besides their shorts, YouTube has more longer form of content. TikTok is also a video-sharing app that allows me to create and share short-form videos on any topic. I use TikTok to look at trending videos and keep scrolling for more videos until I am tired of it. I also use TikTok to post my short singing covers whenever I am free. Last but not least is Handshake. It is a platform where I search for internships, part-time jobs and full-time jobs. I only use it to connect with employers, businesses and companies. It provides me a lot good offers and opportunities. These are the main sites that I often use everyday. I use them with a total of approximately 3-4 hours a day combine on average.
For me, social media is just for source of communication and entertainment. It give a sense of community, helps me to stay up to date and makes me feel connected to my friends, family and the world around me. It is a very convenient and useful tool for me. But it is important to be mindful and aware of how to use them. As long as it is being used wisely, social media can bring a lot of good change.
