Time Diary

For this time diary assignment, I choose Instagram because it is my favorite social media app and I always use this tool for news and entertainment. It is a free photo and video sharing app which I use mostly on my iPhone. The app itself can be used in most electronic devices, however, it has less features and shortcuts compare to a mobile device. It is also not pleasing for me to use in another device other than my own iPhone. I do not really spend a lot of time on this platform unless the contents are interesting or useful for me.

My usage is typically around 7-15 minutes in every 1.5 hours depending on my spare time or when I get bored. I usually scroll through posts, opening stories, and watching the reels. Alongside the entertainment part, I also like to communicate with specific people, for example, direct messaging my friends, replying to their stories, video calling them and share intriguing posts. In this time diary assignment, I recorded and timed my Instagram usage from Wednesday 02/15 - Monday 02/20.

Based on the screen time data usage, it shows that my Instagram usage from those 5 days was 2 hours and 32 minutes with a daily average time of 42 minutes. The time of the semester affects the use of the app and from the data, I noticed a habit or consistent pattern of time when I use the tool. It gives a detail information that it has the most time usage on Monday, Thursday, and on the weekends while less time usage on the other days. This makes a total sense because those days mentioned are the days where I am free and do not have any classes. It also shows that most of the time usage is at the nighttime and less during the daytime which is true because I am less busy at night and my usage increase especially before bedtime.
